Join us at Zarco Guerrero: A Mask Maker’s Legacy!
This exhibit showcases a collection that encompasses his 50 year professional career, including various mediums such as bronze, woodcarving, puppets, installations and of course MASKS!
Zarco's work has taken me across the world, to lands such as Mexico, Brazil, Japan and Indonesia – where I’ve had the honor to work with many master carvers who have shared their ancient traditions and wisdom with me. Now it is time for me to share these artistic gifts with my friends, family and comunidad in my hometown of Mesa, Az.
Please mark your calendars and join us in celebration of this retrospective of my artwork at the Mesa Arts Center. Opening Friday, September 11th, on display until January 24, 2027.
Explore the Mask Alive Art Collection
Presented by Cultural Coalition, the Mask Alive Art Collection on Artwork Archive features online exhibits and a searchable art collection with over 500 pieces of art from Cultural Coalition Co-Founder and Artistic Director Zarco Guerrero.
This collection shares the history of the mask as a storytelling tool that has been used by cultures all over the world for centuries, and more specifically, it tells the story of how the mask has been used by cultural organizations and artists in Arizona and the Southwest.
