Mask Alive! Festival coming to Mesa
Popular Cultural Event Returns to Mesa
MESA, Arizona. September 13th – Please join Cultural Coalition, Inc. for the 3rd Annual “Mask Alive!: Festival of Masks”. Local artists will be displaying their intricate and colorful masks in a festive display of dancing and performance. This vibrant and colorful event highlights the cultural diversity of the southwest and the power of storytelling. Free and open to all!
Witness the procession of giant puppets from local artisans, performances from folklorico dance troupes and the lively music of Mariachi bands. The multi-cultural event will also feature local Japanese Taiko drummers, African dance and a drum parade at the finale. Come and learn the ways in which masks and movement have conveyed cultural knowledge across the globe!
Our diverse performances will include:
-Chinese Lion dancers
-Mexican folklórico dancers and Mariachis,
-African music and dancers
-Japanese Taiko
-Changing Face Performance
-Masked Storytelling by Zarco Guerrero.
This event is more than just a fun community gathering. “Mask Alive! is a testament to diversity and living cultural expression in our community” says local Mesa artist Zarco Guerrero. With dozens of dancers, performers and artists in attendance there will truly be something for everyone at this event.
In addition to the long list of performances, there will be free arts and crafts projects for children, food trucks and vendors. Families are encouraged to attend.The festival will be held in Pioneer Park, 526 East Main Street, Mesa on Sunday September 13th, from 2 to 6 P.M. FREE ADMISSION.
