Emparoxismo is a local rock latino band that blends together traditional Mexican sounds and folklorico with a more alternative sound. The group was first formed in 2014 with the two brothers Rigel Juarez and Ulizes Juarez creating songs together. Ulizes plays drums/bateria and Rigel wrote lyrics to accompany his sound. Rigel was looking for more members to join and that was when his good friend Miguel Texas came along as their guitarist. Manuel Argueta became a part of the band by adding a visual aspect to the music: folklorico dance. They became involved with Cultural Coalition after going to a music event and they met the founders Zarco and Carmen. Since then they have held close ties with the artists and this year will be their third time performing for one of our festivals.
Their mix of genres is amazing to listen and see as lead guitarist Miguel states, “desde que hemos empezado, tenemos el estilo de rock alternativo pero desde que se integró el Manuel hemos empezado a abrirle la mente de incluir la cultura Mexicana y danza folklórica.” [Since we have started their band, we have the style of alternative rock but since Manuel got introduced we started to have an open mind to incorporate our Mexican culture and folklore]”.
They have come out with different albums throughout the years and have only grown closer to the latino community through their music. In one of their new songs called “Tláloc”, they use the name of the god of the rain in mesoamerican culture that also connects them to their roots. Their music is incredible to watch in person as Manuel dances to their fusion of Mexican and rock music and you get to see the music come alive.
These talented four members will be performing at Mikiztli this Saturday the 24th at 6 pm so please come out and show your support!
