El Puente: Sunday, October 2nd: Theatre Festival & Mask Procession
This Sunday, October 2nd, Tempe Center for the Arts will be the scene of this year’s El Puente Theatre Festival and Mask Procession. This free event boasts a wide variety of performances, local art, food, mask-making and kids activities. From 2-6 pm you can expect to see free performances including those by Desert Sounds Mariachi “Sones del Desierto” , Zarco Guerrero and the Dancing Dragons, DJ Sean Derek , Ollin Yoliztli Ballet Folklórico, Barrio Stories Project by Borderlands Theater, Desierto Teatro, Ken Koshio and Ballet Folklórico Quetzalli.
Additionally, the first 500 people in attendance will receive free admission to the Childsplay Theatre’s 4pm performance of “Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook”.
The day will wrap up with a mask procession where kids and families can join performers and puppets across the iconic Tempe Town Lake bridge at sundown.
