Thoughts from Our Board Members
If you’ve been following our Board Member Appreciation Blog Series you’ve probably already noticed a theme. Our board members are passionate about the work we do at Cultural Coalition, Inc. At our recent board meeting, a few of our board members encapsulated one concept or action that makes them excited to be a part of our team. Here’s some of the things that they wanted to say:
Zarco – “We are a service organization providing arts programs to our community. We cultivate culture! Plant, nourish and water the seeds and bring up the young artists. We are a testament to multigenerational involvement. It is important to keep our festival (Dia de Los Muertos PHX) unique and utilizing the word ‘MIKIZTLI’ to describe and differentiate it. The people who tell the stories preserve the culture!”
Laurita – “For the past 4 decades, Carmen and Zarco and the Coalition are the Arts heartbeat of Phoenix.”
Tom – “We are the ones who produce the Dia de Los Muertos Festival and the Mask Alive events. Many people don’t know that. Take your kids and have a great time there. We are good with community involvement and need to better advertise that.”
Patricia – “It’s an organization that promotes all disciplines of the arts, especially the festival and cultural events, and it is deeply committed to community engagement.”
Richard- “We are a grassroots organization promoting the arts and education through events. We are the largest Latino event, Dia de los Muertos, and other community festivals. And then I ask: Have you heard of Zarco and Carmen?”
Gustavo- “We promote indigenous arts in the state of Arizona and hold many culture events that supports La Cultura and the Chicano community. There is a long standing history of the mission by our founders. I support the visions and am happy to be part of it.”
As you can see, our board members not only support the work that we do, they are excited about the possibilities for growth that Cultural Coalition has planned. We are all so proud of the work that has been done, and that we will continue to do in the years to come.
Did you know about Cultural Coalition, Inc? Perhaps you have some innovative ideas on how we can communicate all of the work that we do with the public. If so, please send us a note. We love to collaborate with the public, other non-profits and local businesses.
