Summer Solstice Celebration Press Release

Summer Solstice Celebration

Artists Welcome 1st Day of Summer with Online Community Event

MESA, ARIZONA (June 1, 2020) – Be a part of the first Cultural Coalition, Inc Summer Solstice Celebration on Sunday, June 21, beginning at 2 p.m. via Facebook Live. Most people are aware that the summer solstice marks the longest day of the year, signifying, to many of us, the official beginning of summer fun. What some may not realize, is that this time of year has been a time to celebrate for cultures all over the world throughout history, including here in the Southwest. From bonfires and maypoles in Europe, to grand edifices dedicated to sky-watching and days long festivals in the Americas.

Join Cultural Coalition, Inc from 2 to 3:30 pm as they continue this tradition of community celebrations.

“After months of an incredibly challenging quarantine, we want to ‘come out’ virtually to the elements of our beautiful natural world.

We would like to recognize the awesome power of Tonatiuh – Father Sun, and the loving embrace of Tonantzin – Earth Mother.” – Zarco Guerrero, artist and storyteller, using the Nahuatl or Aztec language names.

Enjoy live performances of music, dance, and storytelling that explore and honor the significance of this historical world-wide tradition.

Mark your calendars to be a part of this virtual experience! Start a FB Live Watch Party with your friends and family. Don’t forget to share your own Solstice Celebrations photos and videos with us using #LaCulturaCura. Find the event on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/culturalcoalitionaz/
