Storytelling with Zarco Guerrero
As many of you know, Cultural Coalition Artistic Director Zarco Guerrero not only creates the wonderful masks you see on the performers at our festivals, but he too performs in his masks. Animated and heartfelt, Zarco brings audiences into the worlds of his storytelling with a whimsical mix of history and human emotion.
You can see Zarco embody a variety of characters through his masks thanks to the Arizona Humanities AZ Speaks program, where he will be presenting his unique storytelling at libraries, museums, and community spaces all over Arizona these next upcoming months.
Dia de los Muertos Storytelling Events in October & November
Join Zarco and his unique masked characters as they celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with hilarious and moving story telling. Among the characters making appearances are: the poetry spouting “El Vato Poeta,” the flirtatious “La Comadre,” the clueless “Special Ed,” the wise “El Abuelito,” and other beloved roles that Zarco, a prolific playwright, has created to express the humor and sadness of our lives. Musical accompaniment is provided by Carmen de Novais.
