Giant Puppets and Mask Festival at Pioneer Park
Come experience the second Annual MaskAlive! El Puente Festival with Cultural Coalition at Pioneer Park (526 East Main Street, Mesa) on Sunday, March 24th, 2019 from 2 to 6 pm. Free and open to all!
The multi-cultural event will feature giant puppets and fascinating masks that will come to life while dancing to pulsating drums and lively mariachis. The Cultural Coalition and i.d.e.a Museum will be on site with kids art activities and local artists will offer participatory performances and parades. Families and children are invited!
This event as more than just a fun community gathering. “Mask Alive! is a testament to diversity and living cultural expression in our community”, says local artist Zarco Guerrero. With dozens of dancers, performers and artists in attendance there will truly be something for everyone at this event.
MaskAlive! celebrates the diverse cultures that make up our community! Local dance companies, musicians, and storytellers will demonstrate the importance of masks to the myriad vibrant cultures co-existing in the Valley. Performances will include Chinese Lion dancers, Mexican folklórico dancing and Mariachis, African music and dancers, Japanese taiko drumming and Brazilian capoeira dance & drummers. Come join in the excitement of interacting with the dynamic cast of masked characters and performing artists.
