El Zócalo Festival Reimagined
Cultural Coalition and Childsplay expand festival to multiple months
The first annual El Zócalo Festival, a partnership between Cultural Coalition and Childsplay, has been reimagined to an entirely virtual format, with live streaming premiers of a variety of arts and culture performances. Beginning April 10, 2021, families and lovers of the arts can enjoy performances of dance, music, storytelling, and more, from some of the Valley’s most beloved entertainers. New videos will be released every few weeks to keep the excitement of the festival fresh, and give everyone something to look forward to!
Celebrate all forms of art when attending El Zócalo Festival, with special recognition to those of Indigenous and Latin American origin, and be a part of the festival with creative craft activities available on the event website. The festival will include an unveiling of a specially commissioned mural by local artist Edgar Fernandez to commemorate this inaugural event.
Festival Line-up of filmed performances includes:
- Arts and Crafts activities with artists Zarco Guerrero, and Carmen Guerrero
- Dance performances by Quetzalli Ballet Folklórico, Indigenous Enterprise, Coatlicue Aztec Dancers, and Marshall Vosler
- Music performances by Mariachi Rubor and Gustavo Angeles
- Theater performances of Dreamers in association with Teatro Bravo
- A parade of puppets, drummers and masked characters!
