Cultural Coalition Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month at Arizona Center
PHOENIX, AZ – Cultural Coalition is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with an exciting series of events and exhibits at the Arizona Center. Starting on First Friday, September 5, their Mask Alive Art Collection Gallery gallery will open in its new location at Suite #1155, featuring a new exhibit that marks the beginning of the Day of the Dead season.
The exhibit will showcase a stunning collection of sculptures, masks, and puppets, along with a traditional altar (or ofrenda), all created by master artist Zarco Guerrero. In addition to the artwork, families can enjoy free, hands-on activities, including mask making and papel picado.

First Fridays Free Family Activities
September 5 & October 3 | 5-9 p.m.
Art lovers of all ages are invited to join the fun during Arizona Center’s Family First Friday’s. Families can stop by the gallery to enjoy free arts and crafts while learning about the rich cultural legacy of Arizona’s Chicano, Latiné, and Indigenous performing arts community.
Zarco Guerrero Mask Making Workshop
September 13 & 14 | 2-4 p.m.
Participants will have a unique opportunity to learn from Zarco Guerrero himself during this two-day workshop. This in-depth session will teach attendees how to create sculpted masks on their own faces. Discounts are also available for aspiring artists. Instruction, supplies, and 2-hour parking validation included.
Third Fridays Donate to Decorate: Sugar Skulls
September 19 & October 17 | 5-9 p.m.
On Third Fridays in September and October, the gallery will host evening hours with activities for the whole family. For a suggested donation of $10, visitors can receive a sugar skull and all the supplies needed to decorate it. Reserved a sugar skull ahead of time online, or drop-in any time during open hours.
