What is your first memory of knowing you wanted to be an artist?
Before I even knew what an artist was, as a child, people asked if I was going to be an artist like my father who was a painter. As soon as I started to draw, people would say “So you are an artist just like your Dad”. Not something I chose, it was predestined.
What other artists or art inspire you?
In Phoenix I have many favorite artists who inspire me like Maggie Keane, Tato Caraveo, Abe Zucca, Kaiser Muñoz, Ixcuinan and La Morena. So many great young artists. See them ALL!
What advice do you have for others (young and old) who are interested in pursuing a career in the creative arts?
Diversity. Creative people should dive into other art forms and media. It forces us out of our box and allows our talents to be motivated to pursue new ideas. Become an Artist “Jack of All Trades”. Helps us to be more well-rounded and helps contribute to our bottom line to develop our sources of cashflow
