4 Simple Ways to Become a Patron of the Arts

Well, here are some simple ideas, that also happen to be inexpensive, that will make you a bonafide patron of the arts.
- Attend art gallery showings, and tell as many people as you can about them. Most gallery showings are free and you don’t need a formal invitation. You can go, mingle with others who appreciate art and perhaps pick up something to beautify your home. We like to offer a few gallery showings a year and they are always free to the public.
2. Listen to live music! This tip seems like just another fun Friday night, but going to an artist’s concert, especially a local musician, benefits the entire arts community. The more people who attend concerts, the more concerts that will be offered by local venues and cities. It’s easy to find free concerts in the park or to find shows that cost less than $10 or $15. So go out and have a great time dancing and be sure to invite all your friends.
3. Instead of going to a photography studio, ask friends and family for referrals to freelance photographers. These small business owners are often artist who supplement their income by taking portraits. Not only will you be helping an artist and supporting a small business, you may get some really artistic photos along with your family shots
4. Support a local fundraiser for an arts non-profit. Whether you are able to donate some money or not, it’s always free to share a fundraising campaign on social media. Helping to spread the word about a local arts non-profit, like Cultural Coalition, results in offering more programs, more art creation and more fun for the entire community. So if you see a fundraising campaign online be sure to share it with everyone you know. You can help someone else become a patron of the arts too!
